The
boarding house ‘Il Chiassetto’ takes the
name from Bolgheri’s lanes: in Via Lauretta,
in which is situated, there are three ‘chiassetti’.
The
‘blond Mary’s’ chiassetto, between
a building and the lawn: it is told that between the
end of the XIX° and the beginning of the XX°
c, in this lane lived a very beautiful woman called
exactly Maria: the guys of the village played in the
lane to see her making some noise, word called in
italian ‘chiasso’ (confusion).
The ‘Napoli’s’ chiassetto is situated
between the rooms building and that one at the back;
it takes the name from a gentleman called Querci Napoleone,
nicknamed Napoli: at the beginning of the XX°
c. he did jobs as tailor and barber, very requested
in the village, ready to satisfy any kind of customers:
in his shop there was the newspaper and was used to
talk behind people’s back (like was used to
do in all small villages) about this or that….,
the fact is that all gossip passed through Napoli’s
shop, and the proof is that the shop was so full of
people that noise was inevitable.
The lane situated between the rooms building and the
garden with the well is simply called ‘Chiassetto’,
and it is right this one which takes the name of our
boarding house.
Nowadays, in this chiassetto, come very often
on Sunday morning some artists to realize and to show
their works of art.
